Four ways to treat hyperpigmentation of the skin

Four ways to treat hyperpigmentation of the skin

What is hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition that causes patches of skin to appear darker than the surrounding area. It's essentially an overproduction of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. It can occur anywhere on the body, but it's most common on sun-exposed areas like the face, neck, hands, and arms. It can also appear on areas prone to friction, such as the elbows, knees, and inner thighs.

What causes hyperpigmentation?

Sun Exposure

This is the most common cause of hyperpigmentation. When your skin is exposed to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays, it produces more melanin to protect itself from damage. Over time, this can lead to dark patches or freckles.

Inflammation

Skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis can cause inflammation, leading to hyperpigmentation.

Genetic Factors

Some individuals may be genetically predisposed to develop hyperpigmentation.

Certain Medications

Medications like antibiotics may cause pigmentation changes as a side effect.

Shaving-Related Issues

Men who shave regularly may experience hyperpigmentation or dark spots due to irritation, ingrown hairs, or razor burns. This can be particularly common in areas where shaving is frequent, such as the face and neck.

Mando and Hyperpigmentation

Mando Acidified Body Wash, Cleansing Bar, and Deodorant are made with Mandelic Acid, a mild alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA). In addition to Clinically Proven odor control, research on AHAs has shown their efficacy in treating hyperpigmentation and other skin conditions.

So, can Mando improve the skin tone and appearance? We put it to the test.

We conducted a study with thirty men and women dealing with these skin concerns. We documented the affected areas with photographs and used a colorimeter to measure skin color before and after the study. Participants were instructed to use Mando at least five times a week.

After eight weeks, 100% of participants witnessed visible improvements in skin
tone and hyperpigmentation whether they used the Wash, Bar, or Deodorants.

So, if you want to get rid of darkness on your underarms, get rid of dark inner thighs, or lighten private parts, Mando may provide a natural and effective way to promote visibly even skin tone.

Other Ways To Treat Hyperpigmentation

Mando Acidified Body Wash is just one tool in your arsenal. Here are some other ways to approach this common skin condition.

  • Topical creams: Prescription-strength creams containing hydroquinone, kojic acid, or azelaic acid can lighten dark spots. Over-the-counter products with BHAs (beta hydroxy acids) or vitamin C may also offer some benefits.
  • Laser treatments: Various laser treatments target melanin production and can effectively reduce hyperpigmentation. However, these procedures require professional supervision and may not be suitable for everyone.
  • Lifestyle changes: Sun protection is key! Wearing sunscreen daily, even on cloudy days, and avoiding excessive sun exposure can prevent further darkening and promote overall skin health. Additionally, managing stress, maintaining a healthy diet, and addressing underlying skin conditions can contribute to managing hyperpigmentation.
